New mural brings cultural icons to life in Benalmadena, Arroyo de la Miel


Benalmadena’s cultural identity is progressing with the a fun new mural On the rear facade the Casa de la Cultura at Arroyo de la Miel. This project is part of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilence Plan, backed by European Union funding through NextGenerationEU. The council is looking to increase urban creativity in the area and reinforce community identities.

Alejandro Tardio ParadaThe artist, Decima created this work. This piece celebrates the heritage and traditions of Benalmadena. There are references to Pablo Picasso as well as the Benalmadena International Short Film Festival (FICCAB), the Storytelling Marathon and the historic La Tribuna Building.

The mayor shares his vision for the emblematic sites

Juan Antonio Lara (Mayor of Benalmadena) inspected the progress made on the mural. Lara emphasized the commitment of the local government to urban culture, as a way to transform and improve public spaces. Lara said that the council wanted emblematic buildings develop personalities, and serve as points of visual and cultural reference for residents and tourists.

Casa de la Cultura was designed to be a landmark for Arroyo de la Miel. Observers believe the mural will boost tourism, while strengthening social connections.

Project that supports wider cultural goals

These artistic efforts are not just for decoration, but also part of the council’s overall strategy. Benalmadena aims to develop into a place with a strong cultural component.
