Benalmadena’s new dinosaur park opening gets closer

As construction nears completion, families in Benalmadena can soon visit a new park themed dinosaurs in Santangelo Norte. According to the Benalmadena town hall, giant prehistoric figures, themed play zones, and climbing structures have been installed on Calle Espino.

Dinosaur zones ready

The Mayor Juan Antonio Lara, and the Parks Councillor Juan Olea visited the project to inspect the progress of the work. Officials confirmed dinosaur attractions and educational elements linked to different eras in Earth’s past are already installed.

Three themed sections will be created to represent the Paleozoic Mesozoic Cenozoic periods. Plans include a giant play structure for lizards, a climbing area for triceratops and a mammoth-sized figure that children can explore in safety. The project also includes decorative landscaping, picnic tables and benches, as well as much-needed shaded pergolas.

In statements from the Town Hall, the park is described as a space that will be both educational and recreational for local families. Officials have also confirmed the installation of Benalmadena’s first vertical gardening in the new leisure area.

€714,000 investment in Santangelo Norte

Construction carries a budget of €714,677.56, with Eulen responsible for the works after winning the public contract. Getinsa Euroestudios was the engineering firm that designed the project.

Early reports from 2024 confirmed the project included improvements to irrigation systems, green areas upgraded, pedestrian routes, fencing, and new public furnishings following complaints regarding the degraded condition of previous playground.

Benalmadena Town Hall does not have an official date for the opening of the park, but municipal representatives said that once final work is completed, it should be open “soon”.

It is a perfect location for families, as it is close to many residential areas and has easy access to the AP-7 road nearby. There are also local bus connections. There are already free parking spaces available in the immediate area for both residents and visitors.
