Manilva’s International Festival is back and bigger for the 18th Edition

Manilva International Festival returns and is bigger than ever for its 18th Edition

Manilva prepares its streets for excitement, as residents of more than 25 different countries descend on the city for the XVIII International Festival & Family Days, which will take place on Saturday, 23 May and Sunday, 24 May.

The event will take place in the Castillo de la Duquesa, Parque del Huerto and other areas. It is organised by the Foreign Residents Department of the Manilva Town Hall.

International food and culture at Castillo de la Duquesa

Weekends are traditionally focused on food. The international residents prepare their own dishes, allowing food lovers to experience cuisines from all over the world. Manilva has around 42% registered residents who were born outside of Spain. This represents nearly 80 different nationalities. This event allows people to take part in that.

Live music entertainment

The event will feature live music and dance performances. Previous editions have featured Latin rhythms, European favorites, and tribute acts. ABBA-tribute performances have consistently been a draw for festivals. Similar acts are expected again this season.

As part of the celebrations, participants will display traditional costumes and flags to show their cultural identity.

There will be areas set aside for children, as well as craft markets and stalls. There is something for everyone to enjoy. The “Be Yourself Association”, which raises funds for Manilva Pride, will also have a bar.

Manilva brings together its communities

These festivals and days are super important to the integration between Spanish residents and the large international communities living in Manilva,  particularly around La Duquesa. In its 18th year the festival has become more popular thanks to the wide range of nationalities represented.

This year’s edition is expected to continue the same format with a focus on sharing culture through music, food and community participation.
