The second Dia de la Familia celebration will take place at Gran Parque de Mijas, on Saturday 23rd May. Families in Mijas can look forward to a full day of fun and entertainment. From 10.30am until 9.30pm, there will be a variety of activities for adults and children.
Ana Mata, Mayor of the City of Barcelona, presented the programme via the Department of Family and Equal Opportunities. Ana Mata described the event to be an opportunity for residents of the city to engage in outdoor leisure and activities with the community. The organizers have focused on family involvement, with different attractions for each age group throughout the day.
The family race is an opener
Workshops scheduled between 11am and 2pm include ceramics, storytelling sessions, survival training and educational activities led by local organisations including Bioparc and Kids&Us. Dog lovers will enjoy a canine training demonstration by Karen Dogwarts. Flamenco fitness performances and a canine training demonstration by Karen Dogwarts are also featured on the programme for family.
Food trucks and entertainment for the evening
Food trucks and a gastronomic area will be available all day. And DJ Tony Gallardo is providing music throughout the park. For visitors of all ages, there are basketball, football, tabletop chess, and football chapa competitions.
The evening entertainment starts at 5pm, with games for children and family activities inspired by Disney’s Moana. Latin dance performances begin at 7pm. Folk dancing follows, and the final dance session is by Berni UP.
