After evading the police for more than two weeks, a SPANISH woman who was convicted of murdering her newborn baby has been arrested.
Yolanda M. Moreno was arrested on Wednesday night after she fled the prison instead of reporting for her sentence.
According to Europa Press the 26-year old woman has been found guilty of murdering her child after she threw the newborn into a trash can shortly after giving birth.
The arrest occurred in Manacor, Mallorca around 8.30pm after a joint investigation between the Guardia Civil and Policia Nacional.
Officers searched for her approximately two weeks following her failure to appear in court before the Balearics province court.

The manhunt was launched immediately following the verdict of the jury on March 22. A jury had found her guilty for the death her newborn child.
Moreno was sentenced to a life term of imprisonment.
According to investigators the tragic incidents date back to November 3rd, 2023.
The woman, who was around 26 to 27 weeks pregnant, gave birth inside a vehicle while accompanied by two relatives – the baby’s aunt and uncle.
Even though they were close to a medical facility, they didn’t seek help.
Gustavo Pretel threw her baby in a bin after she handed it to him.
Pretel was also sentenced to life imprisonment with the possibility of parole, while the baby’s aunt, Rosario Morena, received a fine of €5,400 for failing to provide assistance.
A post-mortem exam revealed that the baby had died of cardiorespiratory collapse due to lack of medical care.

The infant was premature and had a head injury.
The baby’s life was confirmed by forensic experts.
In a strongly worded ruling, the judge said the actions of those involved showed a ‘lack of affection’ and a clear intention to ‘end the situation.’
The court concluded they acted in a ‘particularly vile, perverse, treacherous and cowardly’ way, fully aware of the danger to the child.
During the trial, the mother claimed she believed the baby was not alive and described it as ‘the biggest mistake of her life.’
Expert testimony and forensic evidence, however showed that Moreno and Pretel both knew the infant was alive when she abandoned her.
Investigators found that evidence showed that those responsible for the actions knew the seriousness of their actions right from the moment they were born, until the child was dumped.
