Guardia Civil officers have broken up a group accused of growing, buying and moving cannabis for shipment to Slovenia after a series of raids in Granada city, Almuñécar and Peligros.
The force said 19 people were detained in the operation, known as Graveyard 02, including three Slovene nationals. Four of the suspects have since been remanded in custody by the duty judge in Granada.
Raids across the Granada area
The active phase of the probe took place on 23 and 24 October and involved 12 searches at properties across the three locations. Investigators said they found indoor cannabis plantations, including one hidden in an underground pit, and illegal electricity connections used to power the grows.
According to the Guardia Civil, officers seized 181 kilos of marijuana, 1,388 plants, 805 grams of hashish and almost €35,000 in cash.
They also recovered several pieces of gold valued at about €40,000, six high-end vehicles, multiple motocross motorbikes and accounting documents. The force said four handguns and a pump-action shotgun were also found, along with ammunition.
Modified pistol among the weapons seized
One of the weapons was a Glock pistol altered to fire automatically, which investigators described as a war weapon because of the modification. Officers said the find underlined the danger posed by the network.
The Guardia Civil said the suspects are being investigated for drug trafficking, membership of a criminal organisation, illegal possession of weapons and money laundering. The inquiry remains open and possible international links are still being examined.
