Missing Irish man feared dead in suspected gang killing

An Irish man missing since last June is now feared to have been killed in what investigators believe may have been a gang-related attack on the Costa del Sol.

Darren Hoolahan vanished from the Marbella area in June 2025. Reports in Spain and Ireland say he had links to organised crime, including figures connected to the Kinahan network.

Police inquiry widened after arrest in Marbella

His disappearance has remained under active scrutiny and was brought back into focus after the arrest of a suspected Kinahan associate in Marbella on 27 October.

According to reports, that suspect is being investigated over Hoolahan’s disappearance, while police have also looked into whether he was targeted in an earlier attack attempt in March 2026.

One report said CCTV from the home where Hoolahan had been living showed at least three people storming the property on the night of 25 March, although he was not there at the time.

Claims of a planned burial or body concealment

No official public statement has confirmed that Hoolahan is dead. However, media reports in Ireland say the working theory now is that he was shot dead and that his body may have been hidden in hills near Marbella or even beneath a swimming pool at a property linked to an Irish mob figure.

Those claims remain unproven, and the case appears to remain at the investigative stage. For now, the key confirmed point is that Hoolahan has been missing for more than a year and remains linked in reporting to serious organised crime.

The renewed interest in the case comes against a wider backdrop of gang-related violence and police pressure on organised crime groups operating on the Costa del Sol.
