Guardia Civil officers have arrested five people in Torrevieja after uncovering a suspected drugs sales point and a second property used as a laboratory for preparing cocaine, cannabis and hashish.
The arrests came in the second phase of Operation Maluka, after investigators said they detected that drug dealing had resumed in a house already linked to the same activity.
Cash, drugs and equipment seized
Officers searched two homes in the town with help from the Guardia Civil’s Usecic unit in Torrevieja and specialist dog handlers from Alicante.
According to police, one property was being used to sell drugs, while the other served as a preparation lab. They seized more than €1,000 in cash, quantities of cocaine, marijuana and hashish, and drugs already prepared for sale.
Investigators also found packaging and dosing materials, along with chemical precursors used in the production of cocaine base.
Five suspects released with charges
The detainees are three women aged 70, 43 and 37, and two men aged 35 and 30. They are suspected of drug trafficking and belonging to a criminal organisation.
The case files and the five suspects were handed to the investigating court in Torrevieja, which ordered their release with charges pending further proceedings.
Police said the latest arrests followed earlier surveillance that picked up what they described as unusual movements, including one person travelling repeatedly on an electric scooter. Those checks led officers to the two homes and the subsequent raids.
