Live‑music crackdown creates rage petition in Puerto de la Duquesa

In Puerto de la Duquesa, a growing backlash has broken out after reports that live music performances in bars and restaurants may be restricted during the summer.

Residents, tourists, musicians, and hospitality businesses have begun to sign an online petition entitled “Save Summer Entertainment” in response to proposed entertainment restrictions within the marina area.

According to the petition, venues could be restricted to 12 live music performances between June 1 and 30 September. This would require licence approval. Manilva Town Hall, at the time of this writing, has not confirmed publicly a blanket policy that applies to all venues.

The campaign warns against the measures because they could have a “devastating effect” on local business, jobs, entertainers and tourism.

The petition organizers claim that the live music scene in Puerto de la Duquesa is an important part of the marina’s identity, especially during the busy summer season.

The petition says: “Visitors visit Duquesa for its friendly, vibrant atmosphere.” “Live music keeps the port lively during the summer.”

Residents disagree about noise from nightlife in Duquesa

Residents have been arguing about the issue on local social media sites in recent days. Some residents are calling for more noise control, while others defend the nightlife of the marina.

A widely-shared community post asked whether the current government was reintroducing similar restrictions to those that were imposed during its previous years in office.

The post read: “Tourists as well as locals and artists who give their time to make this special.” [are] All affected”

Others supported tighter legislation, pointing out long-running concerns about amplified music and shouting in the apartments near the marina.

Manilva revises opening hours and licenses ahead of summer

Manilva Town Hall confirmed recently that the opening hours, licenses and security measures at Puerto de la Duquesa will be reviewed in preparation for summer 2026.

After a meeting between the authorities, business owners and residents to discuss the level of activity in port areas, the local police have increased patrols during evenings and overnight hours.

Live music supporters insist that they do not oppose reasonable noise control but instead want to find a compromise between the quality of life of residents and the needs of tourism businesses.

Currently, it is unclear exactly what restrictions will be implemented in the summer. The details of “Save Summer Entertainment Manilva” can be found on the Change website.
