On Saturday, October 4th, the Costa del Sol became a playground for fast, loud and elite cars as the Concurso de Elegancia Costa del Sol brought over 150 hypercars, supercars and classic icons to Marbella.

The three-day event was billed as Spain’s premier motorsports event. It merged high-octane technology with Costa del Sol glamour, attracting international collectors, tastemakers, and designers.

Under the leadership of Franziska Piech, Gregor Piech and the Caven team in 2017, the contest began a bold, new era. It now rivals legendary gatherings such as Pebble Beach and Villa d’Este. Live music, artistic performances and caviar, Iberian ham and champagne were served at the Magna Golf resort in Marbella for the first day. Dealership Calle de Salamanca Marbella stole all the attention by presenting its ultra-premium fleet.

The highlights of this adrenaline-fuelled event were a private trackday at Ascari Circuit as well as scenic coastal drives and gastronomic sunset soirees overlooking the Med. The international jury of experts from Bugatti Pininfarina and General Motors judged the entries on design heritage and innovation. They awarded jaw-droppings in several categories. Dream machines such as the Pagani Huayra and Bugatti Chiron, Ferrari F40 and Porsche Carrera GT, combined raw power with timeless curves.

The event’s Mijas leg boosted its attraction, with around 20 hypercars parading from La Cala de Mijas up to the whitewashed charm of Mijas Pueblo, culminating in a showcase at Plaza Virgen de la Peña.

With the support of local authorities from Marbella, Mijas and Malaga, a charity gala dinner was held to close out the contest. Proceeds were then donated to causes in each community. Concourso de Elegancia has been a visual feast and charity success for Costa del Sol.
