Police have dismantled three alleged drug-selling points in Benidorm after arresting 11 people in raids on homes near the town’s nightlife district.
The operation, carried out by the Policía Nacional, targeted properties close to the so-called English zone, where investigators say a family-linked group had been distributing cocaine and other drugs from residential addresses.
Three homes under surveillance
According to police, the investigation began after officers received information suggesting that two nearby homes were being used to sell drugs at street level. Surveillance later linked a third property to the same alleged network.
Officers say they observed discreet meetings, short visits and changes in routines that were consistent with small-scale drug dealing. The suspects were also said to have altered their movements and schedules to try to avoid police attention.
Once the investigation had gathered enough evidence, officers obtained court authorisation to search all three properties.
Cocaine, cash and phones seized
Police said the searches uncovered more than 550 grams of cocaine, as well as 34 grams of marijuana, 43 grams of hashish and four grams of tusi. Officers also seized more than €4,000 in cash and 18 high-end mobile phones.
The 11 suspects, seven men and four women aged between 18 and 65, were arrested on suspicion of drug trafficking and belonging to a criminal group.
After police completed their paperwork, three of the arrested were brought before the Benidorm duty court. The main suspect was remanded in custody.
Police said the three alleged selling points have now been shut down.
