Police in Benidorm have broken up three suspected drug-selling houses near the town’s English zone after arresting 11 people and seizing cocaine, cash and mobile phones.
The Policía Nacional said the main suspect has been sent to prison, while three of those detained were brought before the duty courts in Benidorm after the operation.
Homes under surveillance
According to investigators, the case began when officers received information about a possible family clan using two nearby properties to distribute drugs. As the surveillance work continued, police say a third home was linked to the alleged network.
Officers monitored discreet contact between the suspects and alleged buyers, and observed changes in routines, routes and times which they believe were designed to make the group harder to follow. On that basis, police sought judicial permission to search the properties.
Drugs, cash and phones seized
Searches at the three homes led to the arrest of seven men and four women, aged between 18 and 65, on suspicion of drug trafficking and belonging to a criminal group.
Police said they recovered more than 550 grammes of cocaine, 34 grammes of marijuana, 43 grammes of hashish and four grammes of tusi, along with more than €4,000 in cash and 18 high-end mobile phones. Officers also found items they believe were used to prepare and distribute the drugs.
The National Police said the homes were being used both to store the substances and to carry out street-level sales close to one of Benidorm’s busiest nightlife areas. The force said the three points of sale have now been shut down.
