Some words of wisdom for someone who has spent the majority of his career successfully helping buyers find the ideal property.

The western Costa del Sol coast is full of beautiful places. Over the last 23 years, I’ve lived and bought in three completely different places and have loved each one for different reasons. I recommend that clients broaden their search and let us introduce them to new, exciting areas.

Many clients have a fixed budget and a particular type of home in mind when they arrive in Spain. After a week viewing many different properties, clients realize that they cannot tick all the boxes and they will have to increase budget to get what they really want. Booking a second viewing trip will result in additional expenses. It is therefore important that potential buyers tell their agent their preferred price for the property and their maximum budget (if they are willing to stretch their wallets). You will be able to view a wide range of properties in just one viewing.

It is unlikely that you will find the perfect property. So, make sure to distinguish between what you are looking for and what you need. In the beginning, many clients want 3 bedrooms. This comes with a premium price. But the 3rd room is often only used for rare family visits. It is then that clients realize it is more important to find a property which suits them, and in most cases a 2 bedroom apartment with a superior location or higher quality would cost the same. A sofa bed can accommodate the occasional family visit. If you find a home that meets your needs but could use some work, such as repairing old kitchens, bathrooms, etc., we can arrange quotes for the necessary repairs.
