Bilbao, a city that is a fascinating contradiction between old and new and famous for its Guggenheim Museum will host the UEFA Europa League final this year.

Manchester United, and Tottenham Hotspur will play each other in Bilbao. This is a local disappointment as the Spaniards hoped that at least one team from their favourite Spanish League would be playing in Bilbao.

The final will take place on May 21st. Both teams will be fighting to win the European Trophy and secure a spot in next season’s Champions League. This would allow them to salvage their reputation after a disappointing campaign.

Manchester United’s 18th loss of the campaign came after a 1-0 defeat to Chelsea. Tottenham suffered their 21st, following a 2 – 0 defeat to Aston Villa. The performance of the players meant that they did not receive a winnable send-off to depart for their game in Spain.

BBC has compared both teams in the run-up to the final of the Europa League.

Tottenham is heading to Bilbao following a season where they have lost 25 games. That’s more than at any time in their history. United has another record to brag about: they’ve only won one of their last 11 Premier League matches since beating Southampton by 3-1 last month.

Both teams were unbeaten on their way to the Europa League Final, and only one of them had a draw.

‘This is the year of the underdog’

Alan Shearer, a BBC Sport columnist, wrote this in a piece about the final. He was right because Manchester United, along with Tottenham, shared the bottom spot of the Premier League for the last six matches. Between October and the present, neither team has won a game. Both have one draw, and one point each. New York Times: It’s a bad season for both.

It is only logical that both teams have had the worst stats since October. Tottenham (20th place) has 5 goals to 16 holes. Manchester United (19th place) has the exact same number of goals.

The stats for the entire season also aren’t that impressive. Manchester is ranked after 37 matches, with 10 wins, nine draws, and 18 losses. Tottenham is 17th in the same league after 37 games with 11 victories, five draws, and 21 defeats.

It would be hard to predict their Premier League statistics, as Man United has scored less goals (42) and allowed fewer (54). Hotspur has scored more than the Hotspurs (63) but they have also conceded more on their side (61).

Rubben Amorim, the manager of Manchester United, is considered the favorite to win the cup.
