The western half of the nation is particularly affected by the rain.

Storm Bram’s Influence

On Tuesday, 9 December, the first front associated with Storm Bram moved in from west and flooded Galicia. Wednesday, the 10th, these rains spread eastward and reach western Andalucia as well as Extremadura. Navarra, the Basque Country and other interior regions. Residents in the Costa del Sol’s western areas should prepare for downpours. The broader southern area will continue to experience the unrest that began Wednesday and early Thursday.

Temperatures remain stable between 15°C and 19°C with declines of up to 6°C in interior provinces, yet values remain above seasonal norms. In the Mediterranean corridor, highs will hover just below 20°C for the Murcia and Valencia provinces. Predictions are that rain will hold off until the weekend in east Spain, when the initial deluge of heavy rain should have diminished from its storm status earlier this week.

Andalucia will be particularly vulnerable over the weekend. There are widespread rains predicted that could cause flooding in lowlands. Showers could also reach the Mediterranean and Eastern regions. This may bring rainstorms or short, intense bursts to Murcia and Valencia.

Flooding is most likely to occur in Andalucia’s interior towards the end this week. This will be followed by rain that continues into the next week.

Even though the heat may not be needed as much as it was in the past, the garden will still need to be watered, especially this weekend.
