They stress that this isn’t care work. It is simply spending some time with an elderly person, and giving them the much-needed human contact. This small amount of human interaction will make a huge difference to someone who is suffering from loneliness and isolation.

Do you think you’re not good enough? Do not doubt yourself. You are the best person to help make a difference because of your life experience. Whether it was through paid work, running a home or raising a family – don’t sell yourself short.

Age Concern is looking for people who can listen and engage with others. If you can take an older person to their medical appointment – expenses paid – they need you. There are many opportunities at Age Concern. Spanish is not required but it is a nice bonus.
