Save A Life has donated another defibrillator to a busy area on the Carretera de Mijas.
This latest unit now stands ready at the entrance of Yorkshire Linen Beds & More. The unit will allow local residents and customers to rest more comfortably and gain access to the necessary equipment in case of an emergency.
The success of the community fundraiser behind progress
Yorkshire Linen organized a charity market that was very popular on May 2. In the parking lot behind the store, shoppers browsed the stalls selling crafts, jewellery and honey, as well as second-hand items. Raffles and sales raised substantial amounts for the organizers. Steph from Yorkshire Linen reported €850 from the raffle alone. Steph, the owner of Yorkshire Linen, said it was about time that they had an AED. She also announced that S.A.L would be providing a CPR/AED training to the entire team in the next few days.
Why AEDs in public places are important
Cardiac arrest can occur without warning. The survival rates decrease by around 10% for every minute spent without defibrillation. Place equipment where there is high footfall such as retail outlets. Save A Life runs CPR training and first aid sessions to provide people with the essential skills.
Yorkshire Linen’s support shows how businesses can take an active part in community safety. The store’s customers and the people who pass by will benefit from a better level of protection along this busy road.
Costa del Sol to be affected by wider impacts
This installation will add to the rapidly expanding network of defibrillators that are publicly accessible. Save A Life now has more than ten units. Recent installations include Calahonda and Benalmadena.
The community continues to support the cause with fundraising markets, lunches galas, and donations.
