Community triumphs: Save a Life campaign installs second defibrillator in Calahonda as fundraising efforts go beyond expectations

Save a Life campaign surpasses expectations in fundraising to install second defibrillator at Calahonda

The Hannan family’s vital ‘Save a Life’ campaign is rapidly expanding its footprint across Mijas Costa, successfully installing its second publicly accessible defibrillator in Calahonda.

The new device, located in El Campanario Plaza opposite Sunshine Golf, is another important step towards making the area safer.

The latest installation, which was entirely funded by local residents, is an essential part of the fight against cardiac arrests. The Hannan Family announced that each defibrillator has been registered with the Andalusian Health Authority, and is assigned an official number. In the event of an emergency cardiac situation, the emergency services will be able to identify and direct the callers towards the closest device in order to save a life.

Recent fundraising events have shown the campaign is gaining momentum. The La Sierra Restaurant dinner on November 28, which was sold out in advance, has a long waiting list due to high demand.

The Hannans expressed their sincere gratitude to all of the local businesses and collaborators who have donated their time, as well as generous raffle prizes, for the La Sierra Event, including Mediterranean Homes Age Concern Global Radio and Diving With Nic.

Coming event: Walk for Save a Life

The community can still contribute to the next installation, even though the La Sierra event has been fully booked. A charity walk, “A Walk for Save a Life”, is scheduled for Saturday, November 15 at 10:30am.

The healthy, yet non-strenuous walk will begin at Sol Bar & Bistro, Las Terrazas Miraflores (Calle Acuario Centro Comercial, Local 21a), proceed to Bridges Bar, and then JJ’s Bar, before concluding at El Zoco, Pal’s Bar. The campaign is inviting children and dogs to help raise money for the next defibrillator.
