Old-school motors and classic cars take to the streets of Torremolinos as the ‘Amigos de los Clasicos’ rally returns

This weekend, anyone who enjoys the sound of engines, the smell of gasoline and the look of beautifully maintained old cars won’t miss this return favourite in Torremolinos.

The rally is back

Amigos de los Clasicos, the popular rally that has been running for over 30 years, will be celebrating its 31st anniversary on Saturday, September 19. It grows every year. In 2022, there were 70 cars. Last year, it was 120. Organisers hope for a strong turnout. Entrants flood in from all across Andalucía, plus further afield in Murcia, Alicante, Madrid and even Salamanca.

Those who want to see the cars in person should go to Plaza Blas Infante just outside of the town hall at 9.30am. Drivers will register at that time, giving enthusiasts about an hour to look around the cars.

Be aware of the route

Avenida Del La Riviera is the next turn off the ring road. Drivers should take Rafael Quintana Rosado and the roundabout near the old firestation. The route then follows the coast, along the promenades of El Bajondillo, and La Carihuela. This is useful if you are planning to go for a morning walk on the beach.

Entering requires an old model.

The cars must be older than 35 years, so you can expect to see genuine survivors and not modern replicas. The organizers usually give out several awards at the event, including the one for the participant who has travelled the furthest distance, the youngest and oldest drivers, and those with the best preserved or restored vehicles. A few regulars have also received special recognition in previous years for attending every edition.

It’s free, easy to arrange, and gives you a taste of the local tradition.
