Marbella’s town hall has increased beach accessibility in its municipality, introducing nine points of assisted bathing along the coastline. The service was launched during Holy Week, and will continue to be active until September 30, covering the entire summer season.

These points, which are located every two-and-a-half to three kilometers, cover the 27 kilometres long coastline of Marbella. Assistance is always nearby, no matter where you spend your day at the beach.

Mayor Angeles Muñoz explained the thinking behind the initiative: “Marbella is very fortunate to have 27 kilometres of coastline and we understood long ago that we should implement all possible resources so that anyone, regardless of their circumstances, can enjoy our beaches.” She said that the distribution ensures “complete coverage” of the coastline and described it as “a clear commitment towards inclusion and quality.”

Now everyone can enjoy the beautiful beaches.

The service offers amphibious wheelchairs and specially trained staff to help people with limited mobility, residents in care homes or those with special needs. It is important to note that accessing this service is simple. To arrange assistance, all that is required is a simple phone call.

The physical infrastructure was also improved along with the staff service. The width of the beach access pathways has been increased from 1.5 metres to 3 metres. This will improve mobility for people with disabilities and make it easier to reach the shore.

Mayor Muñoz also noted that the programme is already well used by senior care homes, whose residents benefit greatly from the opportunity to enjoy a safe and comfortable day by the sea.

With nine stations along the coast, and a trained staff available throughout the summer, everyone can enjoy the world-famous Marbella beaches. The service will run until the endof September. The free telephone number 658-618-333 is the best way to book this service.
