Get into the groove for a profound journey through the history of blues as Clarence Jazz Club proudly presents The Lito Blues Band, led by Spain’s legendary blues guitarist, José Fernández “Lito.”
The Blues Experience is much more than a concert. It’s a pure and unadulterated expression of soul and emotion that traces the history of the blues from its roots up to the present day.
Six decades of legacy
Born in Malaga on May 24, 1953, Lito Fernández began his prodigious career in the 1960s, playing with influential local groups like El Buho, Gran Pamela, Malaka, and Tabletom. In 1989, Lito Fernandez formed the Lito Blues Band. The band was a huge success in Andalusia.
His reputation quickly spread beyond borders. In 1991 and 1992 Lito toured Europe extensively, sharing stages with Mick Taylor (The Rolling Stones), Big Jack Jonson Luther Allison and Raimundo Amarador. He even formed his own band with Henry Donjeany – the renowned Aretha’s guitarist.
The return of an iconic blues singer
Lito’s return to Spain saw him relaunch the Lito Blues Band and quickly become a staple at Spain’s most prestigious blues events. He has performed at major festivals such as the XI Getxo Blues Festival where he accompanied Mick Taylor again in 1999, the Antequera Blues Festival and the Festival de Blues de Cerdanyola. Lito remains one of the star guitarists of the acclaimed Cambaya Blues Reunión, playing along with other Spanish blues luminaries like Lolo Ortega and Ñaco Goñi.
