Gran Parque Costa del Sol, Mijas opens this weekend


This weekend, Saturday and Sunday, November 29 and 30, from 9am-7pm, the Gran Parque de la Costa del Sol will be opened to the public.

Mijas Council has announced that for the first opening of the park, only the half will be open while the final works on the other half are being completed. The park will still be open to visitors, who can enjoy the play areas for children, the cycle paths and walking trails. Entrance is free, and the car park will be located at the main entrance.

You can also find out more about the following: council The weekend opening is part of a phased launch following the successful trial openings held on November 8 and 9, 22 and 23, and 24 and 25. The council stated that “we are continuing to open the facility gradually so residents can begin enjoying it as we conduct capacity and safety testing ahead of the official opening.” Temporary toilets were installed. However, the pet area remains closed.

Once fully completed, the €27 million park will feature nearly 2,900 trees and shrubs, a large artificial lake with fountains and a waterfall, two ornamental fountains (one star-shaped and one cross-shaped), an open-air amphitheatre with seating for approximately 1,900 people, multi-sport pitches, a skate plaza, a splash park, children’s play areas with swings and climbing frames, a dog park, and an 11-metre-wide “healthy living” path with running tracks and outdoor gym equipment. The park is designed to be suitable for children and seniors alike, with a variety of play areas, including swings, climbing frames, and other equipment.
