Dacia, the budget brand, has made improvements to its Spring all-electric model in order to make it more appealing to those who want to drive electric at a reasonable price. The updates include the addition of two new, stronger motors, along with chassis changes.
Spring, since its launch in the year 2021, has sold over 179,000 units (up until June 2025) in Europe. In this year’s sales, Spring has sold more than 17,000 electric vehicles. This puts them in second place for the European market. The car now comes with an anti-roll bar as standard in all versions. This is a first for ride and handling. The car is more stable in corners thanks to the new shock absorbers and springs.
The Spring has been given a number of styling and aerodynamic upgrades, including a set fairings on the front, side and rear. A new spoiler reduces turbulence in the area around the upper portion of the rear tailgate. Spring has seen tangible benefits, leading to a significant improvement.
The previous motors of 45 hp/33kW and 65hp/48kW have been replaced by two new motors with 70hp/52kW and 100hp/75kW. The new motors offer up to 20% more torque and power between 50-75 mph, making the car more comfortable and driveable in nonurban traffic. The 100kph/62mph benchmark acceleration benchmark has been significantly reduced. The new 70hp unit takes just a smidge over 10 seconds, and the 100hp power unit only 6.9 seconds.
The new powertrains are powered by a new battery of 24.3 kWh, the first to use Lithium Iron Phosphate technology (LFP), and the lightest four-seater on the market. It weighs around 1 tonne even with all its optimised features. Its low weight helps to deliver a range.
The 70 hp engine is only available on the Expression trim. However, the 100 hp engine is available for the Extreme model. All Spring models come with a 7-inch customisable digital instrument cluster. A 10.1-inch touchscreen central display and wireless connectivity via Apple CarPlay are standard.® Android Auto™Media Display is included as standard in the Extreme trim. Spring Extreme can be ordered with Media Nav for eight years of connected navigation, including real-time traffic updates and European maps that are constantly updated. The pricing will be revealed closer to the launch date, early next year.
