Fabienne paques, the founder and director of Animal Rescue Centre in Mijas (ACE), welcomes volunteers from all ages. This is a great opportunity for adults and children to work together with rescue dogs.
The charity is encouraging families and children to visit their shelter. Children can bathe the dogs and spend time with them. They can even go for walks together with an experienced walker and a member of their family. Fabienne explains this is a fun, hands-on activity that brings joy to animals and also provides a great learning experience for young visitors. The shelter encourages these accompanied tours in exchange for food donations or small contributions to help the animals.
Orla, 9 years old, has a new experience in learning at ACE SHIN Mijas
Orla, nine, and her grandmother visited the ACE shelter at La Cala where they met Fabienne. Orla’s grandmother shared on social media“What a wonderful day at ACE. I was a little sad when I visited the shelter because I thought I would want to bring home all the puppies! I was wrong – what a positive environment; there is so much love in these dogs, amazing staff and volunteers. We were glad to bathe the dogs that will be going to their forever home tomorrow. My granddaughter had the best day… a day Orla will never forget.”
Spending time with rescue animals teaches children responsibility and compassion. It also teaches them the importance of helping animals in distress. While creating lasting memories, activities like walking and bathing the dogs teach children empathy and teamwork. ACE-SHIN’s positive environment, fostered by staff and volunteers who are dedicated to the cause, makes every visit educational and uplifting.
