Two men have been arrested over 13 burglaries in homes and vehicles across the Tarragona area after a series of investigations by Mossos d’Esquadra, police said on Sunday.
The suspects, aged 23 and 29, were detained on 27 and 28 October and are being treated as repeat offenders with a high risk of reoffending. Mossos said they have a combined 43 previous police records, mostly for property crime.
Homes and cars targeted
According to the Catalan police, five of the alleged offences were burglaries in homes and eight were inside vehicles. One of the men is linked to five home break-ins, while the other is suspected of four home burglaries and all eight vehicle crimes.
The investigation began after several break-ins in the Baix Penedès area in recent months. One case took place on 27 September in the Francàs area, where the occupants were away and the rooms were searched for valuables.
Police also linked both men to a burglary on 5 October in Coma-ruga after placing them near the property before and after the offence, according to the report.
Further links in Roda de Berà and Calafell
Separately, investigators in Tarragona connected the pair to three more home burglaries in Roda de Berà. One of the detainees is also suspected of six vehicle break-ins during the early hours of 25 October in different parts of El Vendrell.
That same suspect is said to have been involved in two more vehicle offences on 28 October near Calafell railway station. In that case, Calafell Local Police found and arrested the alleged offender shortly after the incidents.
Mossos said both men are classed as high-risk persistent offenders under its anti-repeat-offending operations. The pair have already appeared before the duty investigating court in El Vendrell.
