Guardia Civil officers have arrested a 51-year-old man over an armed robbery at a bank in Cocentaina, Alicante, after investigators linked him to the August heist through camera footage and other checks.
The suspect is alleged to have threatened bank staff with a firearm on 24 August before fleeing on foot with €1,500. No one was injured in the incident.
Operation Colatro
The arrest followed operation Colatro, led by the Alicante Judicial Police Patrimony Team with support from the Villena territorial judicial police unit and the Ibi investigation team, according to the force.
Investigators analysed available images and carried out various identification checks before locating the suspect in a park in Alcoy on 29 September, where he was detained.
During a later search, officers found a rucksack containing several personal items, including what appeared to be a simulated firearm. Guardia Civil did not say publicly whether that object was the weapon used in the robbery.
After police work was completed, the man was brought before the Alcoy court, which ordered him into provisional prison custody.
