Torremolinos will be putting on sweatbands and blue eyeshadow to prepare for the third 80’s afternoon party on Saturday, 25th July at Plaza Pablo Ruiz Picasso. This is a free outdoor event dedicated solely to 1980s music.
Live bands, retro vibes and free entry
The doors open at 7pm and music starts as soon as guests arrive. Voleon from local and Los Electroduentes, 80s experts will provide the entertainment. Expect covers and throwbacks to get you square dancing. You can expect the belting sounds that Madonna, Michael Jackson and Duran Duran made famous. ABBA is the perfect music to dance on a summer evening. Also planned are extra performances as well as a charity auction throughout the night.
A night of charity for a good cause
There’s more to it than nostalgia. Emaus Obra de Amor, a charity founded in 1996, is behind the party. It has been running social soup kitchens throughout the province for the past three decades. The charity’s volunteers cook daily meals for the most vulnerable residents. This year’s proceeds from the bar, raffle and auction will directly support the work of the charity to help families struggling with food. Torremolinos Town Hall, and Malaga Provincial Council support the initiative.
How can I attend a party?
You don’t need to pay anything, other than your good will and some money for the draw. Just bring along your dancing shoes. The event is free and there are no registration or tickets required. Organisers welcome you at 7pm. On-site, drinks and food are available at affordable prices. Proceeds from the bar go directly to Emaus.
For those who want to relive the glory days of shoulder pads, a singalong and shoulder pads, you can visit Plaza Pablo Ruiz Picasso on Saturday 25th July for a blast from history. More information can be found on the Torremolinos Town Hall’s website
