Motorhome owners warned of €200 fines in Fuengirola after Feria grounds parking overhaul

Fuengirola council has cleared all motorhomes, caravans, and other oversized vehicles from the Feria grounds.

No new spaces are large enough to accommodate a motorhome. Therefore, no one can legally park inside the lines. Motorhomes or caravan towers that attempt overnight stays by crossing the designated lines could receive fines reaching €200.

The motorhome bone of contention

Since years, neighbours in nearby flats have complained about the site being used as a free and unofficial camping area without adequate facilities. This is especially true for the grey water discharge which creates foul smells and could pose a hygiene risk in the neighborhood.

Motorhome websites continue to recommend Fuengirola Feria grounds As a free overnight spot, even after these changes took effect. Motorhomers will be welcomed as holidaymakers in Fuengirola. However, they must now find legal camping sites.

Feria grounds adds over 700 parking spaces with regulations

Fuengirola Council’s services are pushing forward the council parking plan by reorganizing the Feria grounds. This project provides more than 700 car parking spaces, which adds to the 500 that were created earlier during the mandate.

Mayor Ana Mula inspected the road markings The Feria grounds were always used as a large parking area, but they never had any regulation or order. Teams investigated ways to utilize the asphalt patches near the entrances, where fairground rides are usually located, as well as the edges of central streets and lateral streets.

In the central area around the casetas there is now one-way travel to the Palacio, and parking on both sides. Mula has said that this modification will provide 700 parking spots for the locals and bring the total to close 1,200.

Parking expansions are planned in the coming months

Works begin shortly on the initial phase of Montaña del Deporte in Los Pacos to introduce 56 extra spaces in that district.

Once the licensing contracting is completed, the designs also include more than 1,000 parking spaces under the future Santa Fe – Antonio Basilio Stadium in Los Boliches.

Fuengirola locals are on the verge of losing their homes to motorhomes, caravans and other vehicles
