Calima may also pose a risk to the health of people who have respiratory issues and allergies. It has been known to cause symptoms like nasal congestion, eye irritation and headaches.
If it rains, the impact of a calima is greatly increased. This can cause a silty deposit that can be difficult to drive in and cause problems with outdoor facilities, including swimming pools.
