A traveler who was going to Madrid had his luggage weighed and it was over the weight limit.
The employee, a female, was punched in the face several times and some of her teeth were knocked out.
He continued to assault her with headbutts, leaving both the assailant and the victim covered in blood.
Ryanair employees and passengers restrained an angry man until Guardia Civil officers could arrive to handcuff the man.
The victim needed urgent medical attention due to injuries in her mouth, while the attacker was transported to a hospital to receive treatment for an open cut on his forehead.
The CCOO trade union described the assault as ‘totally unacceptable’.
According to the report, airline workers are becoming increasingly vulnerable to violence from passengers.
It stated: “We stand with the victim, and demand that the measures be reviewed.”
The union has said that it will contact airport operator Aena about the incident and demand improvements in staff safety.
