The Spaniard lost after a long, intense fight despite having recovered from a setdown and pushed the match to a tie-break.

Alejandro Davidovich continues to wait until his first final of the year after a narrow loss to Ugo Hubert in the ATP 250 semi-finals in Adelaide, Australia on Friday.

The Frenchman defeated the world number 14, the Malaga player, in a two-hour-and-36-minute match, which was decided by a narrow margin in the tie-break of the third set.

Humbert (ranked 36) advanced to the final, after he held his nerve during key moments. He relied heavily on a serve left-handed that was difficult to read.

Davidovich showed great resilience in recovering from the first set. He took control of the second, without conceding any break points, and forced a decider.

Both players were under pressure in the final set. However, the Andalusian’s place in the final was ultimately lost due to several unforced mistakes in the tie-break.

Humbert won the match 105-99. Malaga’s player had 26 points and 70 percent of them came from his first serve.
