Mijas Pueblo’s Christmas Market opens to a festive glow

The annual Mijas Pueblo Christmas Market has opened in a beautiful twinkling oasis of joy. In Plaza de la Constitución, the market On Friday, November 28th, nine artisan stands filled with seasonal delights and handmade treasures welcomed the eager crowds. The traditional, lively market is running until January 5. It will infuse the village with the magic and joy of Navidad.

You can find everything from fig bread to handmade crafts and charming Christmas gifts. Open daily at 11am. On the opening day, a steady stream locals and visitors waded through the wooden cabins. Their baskets and bags were filled with unique finds. The vendors reported a positive atmosphere. Little crochet pieces were a popular Christmas tradition. They are perfect for Christmas tree decorations. 

There were also stalls with sweet temptations like mistela sweet wine, potato- and cider-filled empanadillas, egg rosquillos, and a new highlight: the “Pie Apple” – a buttery, spiced apple pie infused with regional flavours. Jimenez, with her hands still dusty from baking the previous day, said that “it’s all made with love”. 

More savoury for foodies, there is a gourmet outpost which provides Iberian specialties, the stall tempts with national cheeses, artisanal pâtés, and premium jamón slices, products celebrate Spanish heritage – perfect for holiday charcuterie boards or gifting with local wines.

Shopping is not the only part of the festivities. The list also included a free live event schedule that would enchant people of all ages, including storytelling sessions, violin and viola concerts with soulful music, and lively folk songs. Festivities Hot chocolate, carols from the past, and a toast were all part of the festivities.

On December 4, La Cala de Mijas The Bulevar Cultural hosts its own illumination, combining seaside serenity and twinkling displays. The following day, December 5, Las Lagunas lights up Parque de la Fernán Caballero, complete with a festive village, Santa’s house, and family rides – a urban wonderland just minutes away.
