Elliott Wright announced his closure of Olivia’s after 10 years.
In December, the iconic eatery/nightclub located right on La Cala’s beachfront in La Cala de Mijas enclave will go up for auction. It marks the end for an era of a venue which was a destination of many people who came to the Costa del Sol just to visit Elliott’s Place.
Wright’s 2015 passion project has evolved into a destination restaurant that attracts celebrities, tourists, and expats who are drawn to the lively atmosphere of the restaurant and Wright’s charismatic host.
Wright, 44 is about to embark on a new journey with his family in the UK. The decision to sell was taken as Wright prepared for this new chapter. Elliott decided to focus on his family after a decade spent pouring all of his heart and soul into Olivia. As the proud father of five – including his newest addition, baby girl Dolly, born this summer to him and wife Sadie Stuart – he cited a desire for more quality time with his loved ones as the driving force behind the move.

Elliott was reported as saying: “For myself, it’s time to start a new chapter. But for you, this may be your chance of a lifetime.” Friends are always telling me they want to leave the UK and live in sunshine. Here it is, the chance to own the most loved and established restaurant on the Costa del Sol.”
Olivia’s closure sparks outpouring of well-wishing for Elliott & family
Patrons and friends have expressed their nostalgia and best wishes in response to the news. As La Cala de Mijas braces for the Christmas holidays, the community’s whispers turn now to who might, or could possibly, revive the magic – and whether Wright‘s Essex roots will inspire a UK encore.
Wright has had a successful entrepreneurial career, which combines TV fame and business acumen. Elliott makes it clear that family comes first, despite the many goodbyes and congratulatory notes. Olivia’s last chapter ends on a positive note as Dolly’s Christmas nears. She leaves indelible prints in the sand.
