YouTube has settled a lawsuit by U.S. Donald Trump for $24.5 million over the suspension his account due to the Capitol Riots of January 6, according to court documents filed on Monday September 29.

The deal makes YouTube the last of the three major tech companies – alongside Meta and X – to resolve lawsuits Trump filed, accusing them of unlawfully censoring.

Trump and YouTube’s Settlement

$22 millions will be given to the Trust for the National Mall in support of the construction at the White House of a new ballroom valued at $200 million.

The American Conservative Union, author Naomi Wolf and other plaintiffs will share $2.5 million.

YouTube has not admitted wrongdoing, and it confirmed that its products or policies will not be altered as part of this deal.

Trump’s account on YouTube was temporarily suspended in January 2021 and reinstated in March.

Trump’s other social media settlements

Meta (Facebook parent company) has settled with Trump’s Presidential Library for $22 million in January 2025.

X and the government reached a settlement of $10 million in February 2025.
