Safety works completed at Estepona's notorious 'ant roundabout'

Work completed on the notorious ‘ant Roundabout’ in Estepona

ESTEPONA’S ‘ant’ roundabout should be a lot safer after a series of safety improvements at the busy Las Hormigas junction on the A-7. 

The work that started at the beginning of February on the Arroyo Vaquero, between Estepona, and Sabinillas exits is now complete. 

It comes after residents expressed concern about the amount of crashes, which occurred ‘almost daily’.

Estepona Mayor has publicised safety work on social media.

The guardrails were replaced after they had been damaged in collisions. 

Reflective road markers have been added to increase visibility at night. 

Lighting around the perimeter was also improved by adding new streetlights.

Also, illuminated signs urging drivers to be mindful of their speed were erected. 

The roundabout is situated at the Arroyo Vaquero Exit of the A?7. This route is heavily used by commuters between Estepona and Sabinillas.

Estepona ayuntamiento aspires to reduce crashes along this vital route for commuters on the Costa del Sol.
