A WOMAN stands accused of allegedly setting two fires in the Málaga municipality of Marbella.
The first one forced residents to evacuate their homes and damaged the AP-7 road. Days later, the second attack was on forestry land and agricultural land.
Events occurred in 2019. According to initial conclusions of the prosecutor, the first fire that she is accused of starting occurred in August, 2019. She “intentionally set fire” to the Camino Cristo de los Molinos.
The fire burned 18.5 hectares of land that was intended for development. All homes in two streets within a residential subdivision had to be evacuated.
According to the first statement of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, “the flames had reached a range of 45 metres away from the houses and the AP-7 toll road.” 45 metres equals 50 yards.
Another police officer required medical treatment for smoke inhalation. The fire caused no other damage to people or property in the area, but the costs of extinguishing the fire amounted to more than €67,000.
The accused is accused of setting a fire on September in the Altos de Marbella region, which caused a blaze to spread over forest and agricultural land. There were two separate incidents, “without endangering any people or property, other than forestry.” The cost of extinguishing the fire was €33,000.
The Prosecutor’s office accuses her of arson. This is in addition to a minor charge, bodily harm and another charge, causing a fire.
