Two Malaga youngsters injured in an accident at the Seville Feria
On Friday evening, two Malaga youths were injured when a cable on the slingshot at the Seville fair broke.
Carlos and Manuel were treated for bruises on Saturday and released from the hospital.
Since 2023, the boys have been sharing a love of fairground rides. Both upload content to their social media, showing and trying out the most eye-catching rides at fairs around Andalucía.
They went to the April fair in Seville with Manuel’s mother, María; “I asked if he could go on the ride at his age and they told me there was no problem,” she told SUR.
The older child told this newspaper he was “uneasy” but still went onto the ride. He stated that he didn’t know when the cable broke, despite screams by witnesses.
“I was shocked. “I was in shock. [cable] “Won’t come off too.”
Carlos, who was suspended in the air after hitting a pillar of the attraction, said that his friend, terrified, asked him what happened.
They lost track of time up there, but María said that it took the emergency services about 15 minutes to rescue them. Manuel, with a broken lip and bruised leg was the first to be evacuated by emergency services.
Ana, Carlos’s mother, told me that her son has bruises and pains in his head, leg and back. “It rang at 8.30pm and the nurse said that my son was in an accident. She told me the strap had come off the attraction. But not to worry. They were both conscious, although they were in pain.”
The front line
Maria, the person waiting at the exit for the passengers, saw the accident and recorded it. She added, “I’m fine since they are still alive. However, this was a shock.” She is also “indignant”, at the treatment they received from the staff on the Steel Maxx ride. “When the incident happened, they said these things were dangerous and they cleared away.” They haven’t asked the children how they are.”
Both were released from hospital on Saturday morning and returned to Malaga. They are still shocked. Their families are considering a legal action, but the National Police is investigating to find out what happened.
