A NEW British detective drama set in Benidorm is now filming on the Costa Blanca, promising seaside sunshine, expat bar tradition and homicide thriller in equal measure.
The six-part collection, titled Demise in Benidorm, centres on Dennis, a former UK police officer who has moved to Benidorm to run a bar and depart his previous life behind.
However when suspicious deaths start to ripple by means of the resort, he finds himself pulled again into investigation.
Working alongside him is Rosa, a pointy, observant barmaid who is aware of the rhythms of the city higher than anybody.

John Hannah (4 Weddings and a Funeral; The Mummy) performs Dennis, whereas Carolina Becquer takes on the position of Rosa.
The supporting solid contains Ariadna Cabrol and Damian Schedler Cruz.
Filming is going down in Benidorm and throughout the broader Costa Blanca, with the manufacturing leaning closely into recognisable areas – beachfront promenades, British bars, resort terraces and late-night streets.
Producers say the tone will mix basic whodunnit storytelling with dry humour and the on a regular basis social lifetime of a Spanish coastal resort.

Earlier this autumn, casting administrators held open auditions on the Resort Melia Benidorm, in search of native extras — notably British and Spanish — to seem in crowd and bar scenes.
Profitable candidates are being employed on a day-rate foundation throughout filming, which is anticipated to carry contemporary footfall and curiosity to town’s seafront and nightlife areas.
Demise in Benidorm is being made by Blackbox Multimedia and Clapperboard, with worldwide distribution dealt with by ZDF Studios.
Channel 5’s commissioning editor Greg Barnett stated the collection goals to ship ‘character-driven crime tales with a powerful sense of place’.
The collection is scheduled for broadcast in 2026.
