On Thursday, after the appearance of two semi rigid boats associated with drug trafficking on Wednesday (28 January) in La Herradura area, three more vessels appeared in Marina del Este.

The authorities use technical surveillance and control methods to monitor and identify these boats which have appeared near the Punta de La Mona in Costa Tropical. They also want to identify any passengers or crew members.

Local fishermen reported that the narco boats took refuge in an area called Berenguel Cove, near Las Higueritas. This is a place where fishermen often take shelter during storms.

The locals explained that the area of Granada coast is protected by westerly wind, which makes it possible for this kind of vessel to be safe from the waves.
