You can almost feel it.
The weather has returned to normal. Slowly, the days of cold and rain begin to fade. Doors remain open. Jackets should be removed. The evenings are longer, and the time feels like it’s extending.
This is one the most beautiful times of the year to be in the Mediterranean.
As the temperature rises, and the sun shines, there are changes that occur. People are walking more. People spend more time outside. They are able to meet up with their friends. They share food. It is not our intention to make life lighter but the season that invites this.
Outdoor activities are on the rise. Walking the paseo. Swimming in sea. Beach life returning. Golf courses are packed in the morning. The need to move during the day is no longer something that you have to force or schedule.
This is the place where important things take place.
Evenings that are calm and relaxed can be achieved by being active, particularly outdoors. The body is not tired, but feels used. The brain slows down. Stress melts. Recovery begins at this point.
Evenings can be moments of intimacy. Sitting outdoors with a friend or partner. Food sharing. Talking. Laughing. Enjoying time with each other without hurrying. Social connection is one the most powerful and underrated boosters for longevity and well-being.
In Mediterranean cultures this rhythm has always been present. Move throughout the day. Slow down during the evening. Be together. Enjoy your food. Enjoy life. This balance is important because it helps people to stay connected, active and healthy as they age.
You can start here if you’re looking to age well and with satisfaction. You can’t achieve this by isolating yourself or restricting your activities. Joining a group. A group. A group that meets regularly.
One of my favorite examples is The Mediterranean 9, Weekly nine-hole golf mornings with an amazing group of people. Walking, getting up and moving, connecting, and starting your day with positive energy. The combination of these two things is extremely powerful.
You can begin in many ways if you are feeling lonely or just want to join something that promotes movement, connection, and enjoyment. Sometimes, it’s just walking. Sometimes, it’s walking. Golf is sometimes the sport.
It can be as simple to join a weekly meeting group.
