Estepona drivers are even closer to getting some breathing space with new car park 70% complete

The new car park in Estepona is now 70% completed, allowing drivers to breathe easier.

This news will delight anyone who has circled Estepona’s center ten times this summer in search of parking spaces. Engineers from the council confirm that the foundation work for the underground parking garage beneath Estepona’s new boulevard is 75 percent complete. The final pour of concrete has been scheduled for August 2026. When completed, the underground parking facility will accommodate more than 300 cars as part of the local parking network of Estepona at a daily flat rate of 1 euro.

The foundations are nearly complete and the roof is taking shape

Builders working the site around Avenidas San Lorenzo, Juan Carlos I and España have finished laying underground channels for electricity, telecoms, drinking water, irrigation and drainage. The completion of this milestone has enabled pedestrian access to Avenida San Lorenzo. It also restored an east-west route in the neighbourhood which had been closed off during construction.

The progress on the structure of the car park itself tracks closely with projections from council. The intermediate floor slab is at approximately 50 percent, and the roof construction has reached 40 percent.

Juan Carlos I avenue reaches 60 per cent

The urbanisation of Avenida José I is now at 60 percent. Now, crews are concentrating on linking this stretch to the perpendicular roads in San Roque & Melilla. Once the streets are linked, residents will notice a better flow of traffic in what was formerly a congested part of town.

What drivers and pedestrians should expect

Above ground, planners have drawn plazas, walkways with water features, and green spaces to soften the transformation of this area from a busy street into a true public gathering spot. It also includes dedicated bays for loading and unloading taxis, motorbikes and electric cars as well as bicycles.

Old town and new boulevard are linked

The completion of this stretch will help Estepona to complete the link that has been awaited by locals for many years. This gap could be a real benefit to a town that is flooded with tourists every summer.
