Don’t forget the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning returns to La Cala de Mijas for 2026

Remember that the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning will return to La Cala de Mijas 2026

This September the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning, which is a hugely popular event, will return to La Cala de Mijas. Locals can enjoy sweets and savoury snacks as well as great company, while raising money for Macmillan.

Everyone can find something to enjoy

The Blarney Bar will host a gathering on Friday, September 25 at 10am. The Macmillan Cancer Support is the beneficiary of this annual fundraiser. It promises a morning full of homemade treats, refreshments and competitions.

In the past nine-years, the event’s popularity has increased. Together, the community has raised more than €36,000 for Macmillan through previous coffee mornings. The money raised is used to support cancer sufferers by offering practical support, emotional support and essential service.

No baking experience is required to participate. The organizers encourage everyone to participate, whether it’s a favorite homemade recipe or something you pick up at a local store. All cakes, biscuits and sweet treats are welcome, including banana bread, brownies, scones and banana bread. Sausage rolls, too, will be welcomed. It doesn’t really matter if you fake it or bake it, the important thing is that you contribute. Donations of food can be brought to The Blarney Bar starting at 10am, Friday September 25.

You can eat more than just food

The morning will be filled with other activities besides cake eating. Visitors can enter the popular “Guess the Weight of the Cake”, with the chance to win prizes.

There will be a raffle to raise money, and local businesses such as restaurants, shops, and other local businesses have generously donated prizes. If you would like your business to contribute by making a financial contribution, donating a raffle gift or vouchers. Contact Gillian York by calling 634 323 477 or sending an email to gyork020671@sky.com. Each donation will help raise more money for Macmillan, and can contribute to beating the fundraising total from last year.

For those  wanting to enjoy a relaxed morning with friends, there will be coffee, cava and plenty of opportunities to catch up with neighbours and members of the local community. The money raised by the refreshments will be donated to charity.

Do not forget to save Friday, 25th September in your diary. Gather your friends and family for a morning full of cake, coffee, Cava, and community spirit.

Every bit helps, so don’t be shy. Bake something yourself, buy a treat from the shop, enter the draw, have a drink with friends, or come to the event.
