Guardia Civil officers arrested two men after they were caught inside a transport company in Los Barrios during a late-night burglary attempt, according to the force.
The men, aged 53 and 50, are being investigated for alleged burglary, assault, resisting arrest and disobeying officers after the incident at around 11.25pm on Tuesday, 28 October.
Officers from the Guardia Civil operations centre in Algeciras were alerted by the company’s alarm system and sent three patrols from the Los Barrios main station to the scene.
When the patrols arrived, they found two people inside the fenced compound. Police said the suspects tried to run on foot as soon as they realised officers were there, but they were quickly intercepted and detained.
During the arrest, officers seized tools they believed had been used in the break-in, along with gloves, balaclavas and €700 in cash. A company representative who arrived at the site was also injured, allegedly during the course of the police intervention.
The two detainees were later handed over to the judicial authorities together with the case file compiled by the Guardia Civil.
Alarm triggered rapid police response
The force said the alarm call allowed officers to reach the premises quickly and catch the suspects in the act. The business is in the municipality of Los Barrios, in the Campo de Gibraltar area of Cádiz province.
The case adds to a run of property crime incidents reported in the region in recent months, where fast response times and local patrol cover have often been central to arrests or interceptions.
