Oliver, please, Salon Varietes is asking for more! Fuengirola open auditions

Theatre, theatre, theatre! Salon Varietes has announced auditions for their autumn production of Oliver! and the doors are ready and waiting for you to come and try it out.

The team behind production

Director Owain Graigs is joined by James Burn as Musical Director and Alexandra Avery as Choreographer in the creative team. Together they will transport audiences to Victorian London’s foggy streets to recreate the world-famous musical. They need your talents to do this.

Dates for your diary

Audition times are Saturday, 6 June and Sunday, 7 June, from 5pm-8pm. If all goes as planned, you can expect to be performing from Wednesday October 14 until Sunday October 25. 

Who is the target?

Everyone can find a role, no matter their age or voice range. The full list of principal parts is as follows – 

Oliver Twist — Male, aged 10–13, Treble Voice (B3–E5) 

Fagin — Male, aged 45–70, Baritone (C3–F4) 

Nancy — Female, aged 20–35, Mezzo-Soprano/Belter (G3–E5) 

Bill Sikes — Male, aged 30–50, Bass-Baritone (C3–E4) 

The Artful Dodger — Male, aged 13–18, Alto/Treble (B3–F5) 

Mr. Bumble — Male, aged 40–65, Bass-Baritone (E2–F4) 

Widow Corney — Female, aged 35–60, Alto/Mezzo (G3–D5) 

Mr. Brownlow — Male, aged 50–75, Light Baritone/Non-Singing 

Bet — Female, aged 16–30, Mezzo-Soprano 

Noah Claypole — Male, aged 14–20, Character Tenor 

Charlotte — Female, aged 16–30, Mezzo-Soprano 

Mr. Sowerberry — Male, aged 35–60, Baritone 

Mrs. Sowerberry — Female, aged 35–60, Alto/Character Voice 

Charley Bates — Male, aged 12–18, Treble/Alto 

Mrs. Bedwin — Female, aged 45–75, Alto/Non-Singing 

Ensemble parts are needed to accompany the lead roles. Workhouse Children are welcome to audition, as well as Fagin’s Gang and Policemen. London Citizens, Market Sellers or Pub Patrons. All ages of strong actors, singers and dancers are encouraged to audition.

The team is looking for performers with strong storytelling abilities, emotional truth and character, musicality, stage presence and commitment, professionalism and a strong group spirit.

What should you prepare?

Bring either sheet music or a backing track to accompany a musical theatre song that is approximately one minute long. Come prepared for everything. Some auditionees will also be required to participate in an exercise call or read from the script.

Please arrive on time for your audition slot. Be respectful of other auditionees as well as the creative team. Turn off your phone during the audition. Warm up your voice before entering.
