Marbella’s Local Security Board met at the Town Hall on June 1 to coordinate efforts with other security forces in preparation for the summer to ensure smooth execution of events.

Mayor Ángeles Muñoz announced the meeting’s outcomes, which included representatives from the Government Subdelegation, National and Local Police, and the Guardia Civil. The focus of the meeting was on a joint evaluation of data and updating protocols between agencies.

Muñoz stressed that “the goal is to prioritise safety, acknowledging the challenges of managing a city with so many events and visitors.” She stressed the importance of vigilance in preventing new forms of crime and cybercrime. She warned that “one of the key issues discussed was the increase in cyber crimes, particularly scams and frauds through social media and mobile phones.” The mayor warned residents not to share passwords and to verify online or telephone contacts. She also advised them not give out their banking information. She said that it is better to be safe than sorry when frauds can cause serious personal injury.
