Benalmadena Council made a huge step in improving the aesthetics of the shopping areas by introducing new measures for terraces, street furnishings, facades, and businesses.
The initiative is aimed at standardising the appearance and layout of commercial spaces and terraces, especially in Benalmadena Pueblo. This will create an inviting, cohesive and orderly environment. “We are working alongside businesses and associations to create an attractive and orderly commercial setting that encourages people to enjoy and shop in the town,” said Raúl Campos, the Councillor for Commerce.
Standardisation of awnings, partition screens and other elements are among the main new rules. The awnings will be gray with an aluminium frame, and feature only the name of the establishment in black. No commercial branding is allowed. Side partitions consist of wrought iron frames and glass at their tops.
The council also approved standardisation measures for fruit, vegetable and produce displays in public areas. Mijas Pueblo, too, has had similar measures in place for some years. These displays should be in harmony with the facade of the building and raised to meet health and safety regulations.
