The event is attended by thousands of people each year. Many are visitors from abroad, mostly from the UK or other parts of Spain.

Calles Mallorca Gerona and Lepanto were subject to special police checks in order to make sure there was no danger.

He commented that “since then, it has grown to possibly be the largest costumes party in Europe.”

Perez said that the party began as a casual gathering of friends and now brings together over 30,000 people who want to enjoy themselves and be happy.

Jesus Carrobles of Benidorm’s Events Councillor said that more than 50 hospitality businesses from the Rincon de Loix region were involved in this years’s party.

He said, “There were dance groups and 15 floats.”

CROWDS ENJOY PARADE

More events are planned for the weekend in order to capitalize on the huge number of tourists who were in the city.
