My daughter’s fourth birthday was in October and I wanted to get her the first gift. You can also check out our other products. We are celebrating our birthday in Spain since 2022.
It’s only been a few friends and family members that I invited to our apartment up until now. But four seems like the age where children start to form real friendships.
I decided to go for it – inviting approximately 50 guests in total – and began hunting for the perfect venue that wouldn’t completely blow my part-time salary.
Find the perfect venue for your child’s party
After some research, I called a couple of places in Sotogrande and found the perfect place. It is a large, bright hall with toys, a soft play zone, and plenty of seats. There’s also an outdoor terrace that can be used for other activities.
I had been there before, and knew that it was clean, safe, and ran by an English-speaking proprietor. If your Spanish isn’t where you want to be, it makes the process much less stressful.
Sonia, owner of Top Party told me that it opened in January 2021. “Right in the middle” of the COVID Pandemic.
She admitted that it wasn’t the right time to launch a business, but thanks to the community’s support, they’re almost five years old.
She said that her concept is simple.
The idea is to Create the party of Your Dreams. You get the key, bring your own catering and decorations, and have total freedom – without any time pressure. Our rule is to have one party a week.
I was really impressed with this approach. There was no rush, there were no hidden costs, and the best part is that cleaning was included. Sonia responded quickly and was helpful via WhatsApp. She told me, “Wine… beer and just relax – do not stress too much about it, and you’re gonna have a great time! “Especially with friends and family.”

Kids Party Entertainment on the Costa del Sol
After the venue had been booked, I wanted the kids to be entertained properly so that the parents could relax. Natalie from Kidzcare Entertainment was highly recommended by local mums.
Natalie is the perfect party host. She’s a bundle of energy. She’s run Kidzcare since five years and offers everything from themed parties and character visits to slime, picnic, and neon parties.
She said, “Most clients are parents planning birthdays, family events, or weddings.”
She also sang some popular songs and played games like Musical Chairs, Pass the Parcel and Pass the Parcel. All the children are enjoying APT At the moment! She managed to make 15 children laugh and dance for an hour. Both the parents and myself were extremely grateful.

Birthday cake and food
I am a great cook and food is always important in my family. But catering for 50 guests was beyond me. I went to Carrefour Estepona for a selection of traditional party foods, including fruit pouches and snacks like tortillas, sandwiches, cheese, and crisps. I put together a huge buffet, with disposable plates and cutlery.
Top Party had a kitchenette with a microwave, coffee maker, fridge-freezer and sink. From the Chinese bazaar of Sabinillas we bought drinks and princess-themed decor. Even an electric balloon pump is provided by the venue.
It was time for the final touch, which was a delicious cake! I’d heard good things about Vicky Cakes & Sweets in Sabinillas, so I gave her a try.
Vicky told us, “I’ll celebrate two years of my business in December. However, I’ve worked as a pastry chef and cake decorator for over 10 years.”
She only uses natural ingredients and makes all her cakes fresh. My daughter’s Disney Princess cake was gorgeous. It was vibrant, delicious and healthy. Many returned for more. Prices start from €65, and there are different sizes to choose from, depending on how many people you have to feed.

A party to remember
The party was a great success. The parents ate and chatted while their children raced through the soft-play area. My playlist was played on the Bluetooth speaker of the venue, and there were lots of laughs and joy. All we had to do at the end was remove our decorations and throw out the trash. As Sonia said, “You just enjoy the day – we’ll take care of the cleaning.”
Organising a party for a child’s birthday can be a daunting task if you are an English-speaking Spanish parent who lives in Spain. The sense of community I feel in this town is heightened by working with people from the locality, like Sonia Natalie and Vicky. The warmth, support and “no fuss attitude” made a huge difference.
