How a €3 ticket to a Mijas women’s football tournament is helping feed 300 vulnerable families

Mijas will host a charity 7-aside women’s football tournament at the Las Lagunas Sports Centre on Saturday, 6 June. All proceeds will be donated to Cruz Roja Mijas, a local charity that supports vulnerable residents. The event runs from 10am until 8pm.

Club Deportivo Las Lagunas has organised this day in order to promote the sport of women and raise money for families who are experiencing financial difficulties.

Women’s Football: A Pathway to Success

The tournament will be split into 3 age categories – Infantil, cadete. juvenil/senior. In the Spanish system of youth sports, Infantil Teams usually include children between the ages of 12 and 13. cadete Covers approximately 14 to 15 and juvenil Includes older teens up to 18 years old.

Senior category allows women over 18 to play alongside the oldest youth players. This structure encourages a broad range of participants, and hopefully will promote long-term interest in women’s footbal.

Red Cross Mijas needs your support!

The Red Cross will benefit from the funds raised by the event. The organization provides essential assistance for residents in times of hardship. This includes food support, emergency help, assistance for elderly people who live alone, and targeted programs for families with financial difficulty. The organisation also offers programmes focusing on social inclusion, health promotions, and assistance for those affected by unemployment or isolating themselves.

The Red Cross Mijas Food Bank currently provides food to 300 families per day, with many more waiting on the list. Entry to the tournament is set at a €3 donation for spectators, and all participating teams will contribute non-perishable food items, to further donate to the event’s charitable purpose.

Sport and Solidarity
