New recycling points in Fuengirola

Fuengirola now has new recycling points

FUENGIROLA’s shine will be even brighter after a major investment was made in street cleaning. The town hall has announced a €375,000 upgrade to its cleaning resources, aimed at keeping public spaces spotless for residents and visitors.

A new street sweeper will be the focal point of improvements, supported with two light vans as well as 30 electric hand-carts. Each cart has compartments that are dedicated to different waste types, making it easier to work efficiently and supporting the eco-friendly initiatives of the town. Costing around €2,400 each, the carts are designed to reduce physical strain on workers while boosting productivity.

Ana Mula, the mayor of Fuengirola, stressed the importance of having clean streets in the community. “Clean roads are important, not only for visitors, but for all who call Fuengirola their home,” she said. She highlighted the council’s commitment to maintain a welcoming atmosphere.

Recycling points added to busy areas

The upgrade goes beyond new equipment. With €67,956 in support from the Malaga Council, the council has installed 15 new waste‑container “islands” for paper and cardboard in high-traffic areas, including Av. de las Salinas, Plaza González Anaya and Av. Jesús Cautivo. The new recycling points are designed to make it easier for local residents and visitors alike to dispose of waste in a responsible manner.

This initiative is part a larger strategy to improve the cleanliness of the town and its environmental sustainability. By combining modern equipment with better waste‑collection infrastructure, Fuengirola is making daily life tidier and more pleasant for everyone.

The upgrades, according to council officials, will help cleaning teams cover more ground and keep the streets clean throughout the entire year. The town also focuses on providing staff with ergonomic, environmentally friendly tools. This reflects a balance between practical needs and environmental priorities.

Fuengirola’s reputation as a clean and welcoming coastal town will be strengthened with these improvements. Residents and visitors will enjoy safer streets, more attractive streetscapes and a greater sense of civic pride.
